Now, most of the meat processing plants’ blood from bleeding is processed by sewage treatment plants as waste. With a total of 60.000 tons per year, the processing of this waste is very costly. Pig’s blood contains high-protein rich amino acid, and despite that it is well known for being nutrient rich, it is not used in any way. In cooperation with Nippon meat packers inc., Mitsubishi Nagasaki Machinery is the first in the world to have successfully develop a plant which can produce peptide feed from pig’s blood.

The water content of the blood, through a high temperature and high pressure hydrothermal reaction, is hydrolyzed and together with high temperature sterilization, low-molecularization of the high molecular protein in the blood turns it into a low molecular peptide and amino acid solution.

Compared to conventional feed the peptide feed has much added value. We rated the feed quality when added to the milk substitute (compound feed) for the weaning piglets. Even when compared to blood plasma protein, which is called the best source of protein, The results show the same high amount of weight gain advantage. Combining this with the shortening of the number of rearing days, it will be a big step towards the self sufficiency of the national animal feed protein.
